Kutao Jiu-Jitsu Parent Information
The intent of the Kuntao Jiu-Jitsu youth program is to teach your child/children how to defend themselves against an adult adversary and avoid altercations with other children. Children are allowed to learn at their own pace in a cooperative atmosphere. Marc Bochner has designed a program that is cooperative in nature and results in children helping out other students – without being asked by the instructors. Adult students assist in the youth class, allowing your child/children to defend against a larger, stronger adversary. The children who train in this class are taught to be respectful towards others, learn the value of discipline, and will quickly understand the importance of hard work and goal setting.
The children’s curriculum is based off the adult training program and includes:
- Listening To Their Intuition
- Discipline Training
- Verbal Defusing of Situations
- Proper Footwork
- Striking Techniques
- Self-Defense Techniques From Strikes, Grabs, Chokes
- Ground Survival
- Jiu-Jitsu Joint Manipulations
- Jiu-Jitsu Throws/Takedowns
- Ukemi: The Art of Rolling and Falling
- Live Training: Controlled Sparring and Grappling Against Adults
- Weapon Training (Stick)
- Martial Arts Terminology
A personal message from Marc Bochner
As a student of the martial arts since the age of eight, I can honestly say that my martial arts training and the values of hard work, dedication, and self-reliance that I developed, set the foundation for my choices in life – from the completion of a Doctorate in Physical Therapy to publishing three self-defense manuals by the age of twenty-eight. When I teach, I understand the beneficial effects that my instruction and the martial arts can have on the students. I take pride in knowing that my students are able to defend themselves and are well rounded individuals.
